DOVER, Del. -- Photographs of flag-draped cases bearing American casualties from Iraq should not have been made public under a Pentagon policy prohibiting media coverage of human remains, officials said.

"Quite frankly, we don't want the remains of our service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice to be the subject of any kind of attention of the American people who have been duped into thinking that this is a videogame-like war that is warranted or dignified and has no concequences," said John Molino, a deputy undersecretary of defense.

Bummer Bush.

I read this earlier today, and saw the photo. What I saw was a very solemn, very respectful picture, which did not warrant anyone losing their job. I suppose the government believes we won't realize people are actually dying if they don't allow those photos out to the general public? @@

Okay, I know, they made some noise about protecting the privacy of the families. IMO, seeing as how no family members are pictured, no names are attached anywhere visible, then no one's privacy has been invaded. We have no knowledge of who those people are, other than they are folks who lost their life in a horrible war (like there is any other kind).

God bless our military personnel, keep them safe, and bring them home soon.
